OVERVIEW
HNZLR was tapped by Vita Motus to contribute sculptural and graphic detailing as the studio continued its evolution of EDC Las Vegas’ Bass Pod stage. As a key collaborator in the concept and detailing phases, HNZLR helped steer multiple iterations of the design toward final realization. The resulting figures, dubbed Space Monkeys, are imagined as alien, mechanical primates sent to Earth to deliver subsonic frequencies yet unknown to humankind.
SCULPTURAL RELIEF
HNZLR sculpted key anatomical elements, including the striated torsos and articulated arms, along with the helmet-like cranial motif. His approach balanced visual boldness with structural clarity, ensuring the proportions could translate into large-scale fabrication while still evoking an otherworldly intensity.
GRAPHIC EDGE DETAILING
HNZLR also originated the neon-edge graphic language that adorns the forms. Channeling his architectural instincts, he developed a system of parallel offsets and justified alignments to create a glyphic, typographic skin—evocative of both alien symbology and engineered logic.
LAUNCHING PASQUALLE INTO VR
To present the final vision, HNZLR rendered the Bass Pod in Unreal Engine and built a room-scale VR experience for Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac’s founder and CEO. The immersive walkthrough, delivered in-person at Insomniac’s Los Angeles HQ, marked Rotella’s first interactive VR experience- one he credited HNZLR with making both memorable and impactful.
CINEMATIC CONCEPT RENDERING
HNZLR presents live Unreal Engine scenes during client reviews, alongside high-fidelity CAD models with custom aesthetic display modes.
These real-time, in-house visuals are instrumental in confirming concept viability and articulating design intent to adjacent teams.
Clients gain agency by interacting with evolving environments: suggesting prop adjustments, evaluating lighting scenarios, and experiencing spatial transformations live on call.
HNZLR is artistic vision meeting technical execution.

MERCHANDISE DESIGN
Fluent in graphic arts and bespoke apparel design, HNZLR routinely conceptualizes merchandise to continue the spirit of his designs into wearable identity. Entering a flow state, he expanded the intricate linework system he developed for the stage into a series of posters, shirts, hoodies, and bandanas, in both male and female varieties. These were printed and distributed to team members and proposed to Insomniac as a BassRush clothing line.
