TOXIN SPORE INSTALLATION

[SUPPORTING PH-NEGATIVE CONCEPT PROJECT]

TAKIFUJI AWARD RECIPIENT: 2016

TOXIN SPORES expands upon concepts explored in pH-NEGATIVE, an experimental architecture project. These mechanical flora filter the highly poisonous pollutants plaguing the air of DTLA after cataclysmic weather events, hyper-corrosive acid rain, rendered the area uninhabitable.

The installation was first unveiled at Sturt Haaga Gallery at Descanso Gardens, LA, then re-installed at the Art Center Gallery for 3 months, where it ran continuously. HNZLR was granted the 37th Takifuji Award, including a cash purse and an expensed trip to Japan, where he presented the project in Tokyo.

MATERIAL: laser-cut folded museum board, mylar, tape, MDF, spray paint, servo-motors, 2x arduino unos (LEDs, motors), servo shield, PSU, cabling
